Monday: December 2nd
Got to email fam, friends, and this one random dude who lives somewhere in Canada... haha ;) Nah, I'm just kidding... he lived in Zimbabwe.
Anyways! Had a really joyful and fulfilling day, we ate a ton of honey with some members for dinner. I LOVE my honey <3 We got to show Roberta a movie about the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith. (Joseph Smith is an amazing man who endured through many trials to become a modern day prophet of God and brought about much of the Restotartion of The Church of Jesus Christ.) It was such a powerful movie! I teared up many times, but the Spirit was definitely strong. We watched it at the church which was a HUGE step for Roberta! We haven't gotten her to budge on coming to the church for 4 months. Great day overall, many goofs galore... ;)

You kidding me? So close yet so far ;)
CRAZY STORY:
We were in the trailerhome for the night and Elder Garstin and I are just chillin in our beds when I hear a tiny squeaking noise.... I look over and there was a MOUSE just chillin on our fan by the door!! We tried to throw blankets like nets to catch it, but we managed to get it into the bathroom cornered. I grabbed a bowl to try and capture the mouse as it ran by. Elder Garstin and I both screamed as the mouse literally ran across both of our bare feet and into the living room! We weren't able to catch it, it got under the stove. But what a surprise from this crazy Death Mouse!! It wasn't really deadly obviously but it was a mouse nonetheless! Plus we got to stick with the theme, Death Cow, Death Deer, and now Death Mouse, haha! Scared us so bad, but now we get to buy mouse traps for the trailerhome... ;)
Well, this story is NOT over.... I thought it was. That very night I woke up at 4 am. And I felt something... I felt the SAME MOUSE crawling up my arm and across my back!!! I tried to brush it off of me thinking that would do it but it came back and crawled over my back for a SECOND time! Danng Gina! Get away from me.... ugh! Haha ;)
That was a first for sure.... *slaps forehead*
OH MY GOSH HOW LONG IS THIS STORY. I'm literally writing all of this as it happens, the mouse showed up AGAIN this morning but it was asleep on the ground! Thank you Heavenly Father haha. We trapped it under a bowl and was able to take it out for good outside... savage! Geez, glad that's over, savage mouse :)
We finally got him!
Tuesday: December 3rd
Headed up to Montrose to give the training in District Council, but this time we combined with another district and I taught both of them! It was a really great training, and a great discussion. Stressful planning these but rewarding when they're done. We drove home and had yet another lesson with Roberta! This time we really drove home the point of coming to church, she herself is her only holdback. Please pray that her heart be softened and that she take a leap of faith and come to church!
Wednesday: December 4th
Taught a nice lady the importance of the Book of Mormon, we read some chapters and she told us she was excited to finish the Book! I know that we can find peace, direction, and comfort through reading the words of the Book of Mormon. In my life, nothing has been clear truth than that. I invite you reading this to read 2 Nephi 33:10 and ponder what this Book can do for you :)
CRAZY STORY:
We swung by a member's home and we found the MEMBER outside DUMPSTER DIVING in their front yard! They totally saw us pull up but didn't care. They were digging some more and pulled out this bag of white powder! They had found a bag of CRACK inside that dumpster and we saw them put it in their pocket.... #OnlyInRita Literally only in Rita where you go to check up on one of your members and find them in a dumpster looking for a bag of crack that they can save for later... haha! *slaps forehead*
Thursday: December 5th
Today we went back to our "patch in the back" friend who started listed off reasons why smoking weed was terrible for your health and then proceeded to say that it was fine for old people... nice. Rita had a Christmas "parade" today. And I say parade in quotes cause it was basically just 6 muddy trucks pulling beat up trailers that had a few Santa floaties and like two snowmen on them... small town life! :) We taught Niki (Tina's 8yr old daughter) a really cool interactive lesson on the Restoration and they are planning on coming back to church! Glad that Tina's heart has softened :)
Savages
Friday: December 6th
CRAZY STORY: Fire
Drove two hours up to Grand Junction to get on a bus to Denver for a mission wide dinner/meeting. Thing is... we drove through a FOREST FIRE to get there! Ya! There was smoke everywhere for about 40 miles on the road and we couldn't see past 15ft in all directions. It was insane! Thankfully there were no fires on the road itself, just smoke everywhere but we made it to GJ fine :) That was a first... thank goodness for the Lord's protection through that forest fire. We took a bus and got to Denver for our mission wide dinner. There was 170 missionaries! We also had a musical devotion which was really good. Definitely a historic moment to have the whole mission there.
Saturday: December 7th
Woke up and the whole mission filed into one chapel. We had the special privilege of having Elder Carl B. Cook of the Seventy and Elder Niel L. Anderson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles speak to us! (Leaders in our church) As soon as Elder Anderson walked in I could feel such a joyful and peaceful spirit about him! It truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit at the feet of an Apostle of the Lord and listen earnestly to his counsel. The Spirit was strong there and we had a great discussion with them as a mission. One quote that stood out to me was, "You don't have to handle it, give it to the Lord." I love this principle! Whenever we are struggling please know that you are not going through your trials alone. Your Savior has borne every burden, included yours, so turn to Him and He can show you how to get through it!
Funny Story: I was driving through Grand Junction so Elder Garstin and I could get back on the road home and I looked outside and saw LITERALLY FIVE people on the sidewalk, one pushing a stroller, and said, "Wow, there's a lot of people out on the streets..." and Elder Garstin started laughing and told me that I'd been in Naturita too long, haha! I guess five people walking around the city just seems like a lot of people to me now ;)
Sunday: December 8th
Elder Garstin and I gave talks in church and guess who FINALLY came?!?! Roberta!!! I was full of such glee that she came. I received a very special and strong spiritual witness during my talk, and I cried as pure love just entered into my heart unbeknownst anything I've ever felt in my very being. <3 I began to cry and testify to my awesome Rita congregation that I knew how the Spirit speaks to me. And that I KNEW what I have learned in my head, been able to FEEL in my heart, and DO with my feet in the Gospel is all.... True. I know it, and God knows it. Great life changing day!
CRAZY STORY: Fire, now Ice
We were driving from Norwood to Nucla and got hit with this huge blizzard!! I couldn't even see the lines on the road so I just mentally cut the road in half and stayed in my "lane" haha! :)
I flippin love Rita!
Driving through a blizzard AND a forest fire was pretty scary yet fun! Wonder what the heckin crazy next thing Colorado is going to throw at me this week... ;)
Love you all,
