WEEK #97 - The Out West of Denver

Another good week! Half was out west on exchanges, the other half in Denver.

Silly Elder LaRose ;)

Monday: May 24th
I hit 22 months today. Dang gina. The work of the Lord is absolutely amazing, I've seen so many hearts change even if little! The Lord looks on our hearts... 1 Samuel 16:7... I know my heart has changed as I've strived to become more Christlike by helping others do the same. Drove to Rifle so..... 3 hours of singing in the car we go :)

Tuesday: May 25th
Had breakfast at the Meeker cafe and drove up to Craig for exchanges. It was a hard working day with Elder Grant! I was in his area so we met a lot of their friends they are teaching. A powerful spirit always comes into the room when we talk about eternal families and the love we all can build as we center our life on Jesus Christ!
 Elder Grant

Wednesday: May 26th
Rifle exchange was fun. Again, more interactions with others in person and on Facebook! Good work.

Thursday: May 27th
Zone Conference was great! Drove 3 hours from Rifle to get there haha. It was a good mid week out west trip! I miss the west!

Friday: May 28th
Exchanges with Highlands Ranch! I went with Elder Gardner in the YSA and that was super fun. We taught a bunch and worked on reaching out to people over Facebook. A few people rejected the message I had to offer in a not so kind way, so I think it's important we show Christlike compassion and humility whenever people treat us or judge us wrongly! A key aspect of the Gospel right there.

Elder Gardener

Saturday: May 29th
Got to teach about the importance of baptism and eternal families to Jennifer and McKayla. It was so powerful feeling the Spirit touch their hearts to help them understand the purpose of this life and the potential their family has to be united forever! I love my family has found great and lasting peace in this Gospel... and so can yours! Feel free to message me about this :)

Sunday: May 30th
Church was great today, we got to meet our friends Jennifer and McKayla. They had a great experience learning more about the sacrament and the Restoration of the Gospel! I know that miracles still exist today. I've seen them in my life many times, and even when I begin to doubt and think they've ceased I need to cast aside my doubts and focus on my faith in our Savior Jesus Christ! Christ will provide miracles in your life... ask in faith <3

Love you all!

Love,
Elder LaRose

WEEK #96 - Horrible... but, Not Bad :)

This week totally wasn't horrible haha! The title is just kidding, it was a great, hard working week!

Monday: May 17th
Pday today was good, got a lot done and it started hailing today so that was fun being pelted by little frozen rain pellets.

Tuesday: May 18th
Exchanges here in Orchard with Elder Gerber was great! We worked hard and drove around teaching a couple people. We taught Tony and he said he felt a distinct feeling of peace and calm whenever we came by– so great to see that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ isn't just one that is KNOWN but is FELT when it is true. I love being a missionary!
Cheesy smile :)

Wednesday: May 19th
The day finally came! Me and Elder Barnes got our second dose of the Moderna vaccine today... right after I drove 4 fours from Denver to Grand Junction to begin exchanges and was rubbing my left arm the entire time haha. It was so sore! The drive was beautiful though, I'm so grateful God has played a hand in creating this beautiful Earth in addition to the Covid-19 vaccine. I know Heavenly Father reaches out to His children in love to inspire and direct us!
Vaccinated. Just two more weeks till full!

Thursday: May 20th
The day after my vaccine was on exchanges in GJ with Elder Stott. He's such an amazing Elder! He was patient with me because I had a horrible headache that would throb whenever I stood up. Still worked hard and taught a couple people about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the necessity of following Him by being baptized by someone holding the priesthood authority. I slept absolutely horrible so I had a LOT of time to think at night but that was probably the worst of it for me and the vaccine.

Elder Stott, we talked SO much haha

Friday: May 21st
Driving back to Montrose! I love Montrose. Definitely a must go, me and Elder Doyle on exchanges got CrashBurger (so good) and taught Angela. She's a stud and soaks in the truths of the Gospel! I cherish every moment spent with people who truly understand the blessings of the restored Gospel.
Flowers at church :)

Saturday: May 22nd
Back to GJ for another exchange in Lands End, I was in a trio with Elder Smaelie and Elder Jorgensen. We worked super hard on Facebook messaging and having conversations with lots of people online! It's so cool seeing the fruits of your efforts to reach out to many people, encouraging them to strengthen their families and ties to God :)

Sunday: May 23rd
Driving back home was long yet good. We went to church and our friend Tom Walker came! He's a minister at the Church of Christ in Englewood and he even invited to his own "power hour" later that day sooo.... what did we do??? We went! So many people were staring at us thinking what the heck are we doing here haha, but it was a great time! Definitely interesting seeing how others worship and follow the Lord.

Great week!

WEEK #95 - Family is Forever 3

Hello everyone! Family is forever. This week we taught alot of people about that eternal truth and I'm so comforted to know what it really means to me, my family, and goof loved ones! ;)

Sorry for the lack of pictures but here is me before running one day, and

Monday: May 10th
It was raining all day today AND SNOWED at night! What the heckin heck Colorado??? Snow now in May! Haha, I love it :) We had interviews with President Rees today and they went well. Good start to the week!

Tuesday: May 11th
District council was great and we worked hard on Facebook today!

Wednesday: May 12th
We taught Aurelio and Tiffany about the importance of baptism, and we had a really good discussion with both of them! They were intrigued at the purpose of the Book of Mormon so we cleared up a few of their concerns. It's so important to read and actually study the Book of Mormon with an open mind! Heavenly Father loves His children, and if I can believe in the miracle of Moses splitting the Red Sea I can believe in the miracle of the Book of Mormon being more of God's word :)

Thursday: May 13th
Had lots of teaching opportunities today and covered a lot about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Great hard working day.

Friday: May 14th
Training meetings all day, but me and Elder Barnes worked hard at training the new missionaries, leaders, and then later on helping people in our area understand the Plan of Salvation! Family truly is forever :)

A pillow that talks about Jesus Christ!

Saturday: May 15th
Today was emergency transfers so we got to drive over to Avon which was a beautiful drive as always! I-70 is such a nice drive. We came back and this guy walked past me and Elder Barnes and I really felt prompted to talk to him! He was on the other side of the park by the time we were free so.... what did we do? We ran across the park! Haha, we caught up with him and talked about how we felt like we should tell him that God is mindful of his trials and how much he loves his family. He was really touched and we may start meeting with him soon! The Lord always guides us, even if that includes unwanted exercise in a shirt and tie :)

Sunday: May 16th
Happy Sunday! Church was great and the talks focused alot on finding forgiveness through our Savior Jesus Christ, and the meaning of exaltation. Now that's a big word, but most importantly to understand about exaltation is that we believe we can dwell again in the presence of God we our families! This gift is conditional based off of our faithful keeping of the commandments, and covenants that we make with God and our family. What a joy it is to endure through this life in hopes of receiving this beautiful gift, a gift only made possible because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ! Feel free to email me if you want to learn more about that! :)

WEEK #94 - Van Down By The Temple

Transfer week was a good one! Enjoy the read.

Monday: May 3rd
Crazy day today! We had a power outage in the town and lots of things stopped working. It has surprisingly raining a bunch of times this week which is surprising in Colorado... usually we don't get much rain, just.... snow in May :)
Early morning van driving

Tuesday: May 4th
Prepared for transfers this week, I'll be staying a 6th transfer here in my wonderful area! (8 1/2 months) and I've loved how much I've learned. Worked hard today! And also, Happy Star Wars Day!! May the Fourth be with you.

Wednesday: May 5th
Today was driving to the Denver airport to pick up new missionaries! I always love this day. It's so energizing talking to the new missionaries with all their questions they have. I got to drive the 12 passenger van, and I always feel like a glorified bus driver haha. It was a fun day, and I loved spending time with the new missionaries! It is so special to see their genuine desire to serve our Savior Jesus Christ and to help others feel of that light/love. This is what this is all about! This is why I send out these emails... to help invite others to come closer to our Savior.
Even earlier morning van driving... :)

Thursday: May 6th
Woke up at 4am for transfers to get the new missionaries out of the hotel into the van... so fun haha! We called this one person and in their voicemail they said where they worked so we dropped by their workplace and it turns out that they had super bad cell service all the time and was actually interested in listening to our message! That was a fun way to full send it and be guided by the Spirit

Friday: May 7th
Today was dropping off the Departing missionaries to the airport. We had breakfast and got to drive to the Denver temple grounds! The Denver temple is a holy place, a place of love and beauty. The flowers were gorgeous and the white stone was beautiful. I love the temple! In our religion, the temple is a place where we can feel peace, seek revelation, and find comfort in our Savior Jesus Christ. We make promised and covenants with God to show our faith to Him and His restored path. What a beautiful insight! If you want to hear a personal story about the temple feel free to ask me in an email. I haven't been to the temple since August 13th, 2019!

Flowers and the Temple of the Lord!
Flowers Trees and Temple!

Saturday: May 8th
We met up with Kyle from Facebook at the park today! He brought coffee and I brought hot chocolate so that was a fun conversation, haha! He was pretty interested in learning more about the Book of Mormon so we gave him a copy and taught a little bit about how God has reached out to His children in love to bring forth additional scripture and guidance! Feel free to message me if you want to learn more about this too. :)

Elder LaRose at the Temple!
Sunday: May 9th
Happy Mothers day!!!! Big appreciation to my mom, Jenna! I love you mom <3 Mothers are the best. I made a Facebook post explaining a little more about it, but I know that my mom has been strengthened by the hand of God to get through her trials! I'm eternally thankful for her. We worked hard today, and got to spend a good amount of time on Facebook.

Enjoy the week and the pictures!

WEEK #93 - MAYbe things will... slow down

These last 3 months are going by too fast. It needs to stop! Just got to keep serving the Lord, ammirite? ;)

 Comp selfie!

Monday: April 26th
Because Denver is weird and wants to have a snow storm at the end of April we moved MLC to today. It was a long meeting, but we got some good things done! The drive back was amazing, I love it all the time especially because I have all the roads/highways in the mission memorized now! We focused alot on our purpose as missionaries and how it connects to the Doctrine of Christ. Jesus Christ taught us the path that we need to follow, we must trust His plan for us in life and move forward accordingly!

Tuesday: April 27th
Had preparation day today, and it started to hail! Within 10 minutes it changed back to sunshine and roses haha... classic Denver! It then started raining hard with lightning and thunder in the opposite direction that the hail originally came in... nice.

Hamburger cooking skills on point...
Wednesday: April 28th
Hard working day :)

Thursday: April 29th
Had a fun combined District council. We covered a lot about obedience, and I love how this principle is the very first foundational principle of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! There is no such thing as partial obedience or part-time discipleship. We must be all in!

Friday: April 30th
Hard working day! Got to meet Annette from Facebook in person at the park, it was such a nice day! We got to teach her about the Restoration, and answer her questions about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. It was such a powerful experience reciting the First Vision account from memory. The Spirit testifies that it is true!

Service time!

Saturday: May 1st
Met a lady over the phone named Lupe! She's  been needing a new change in her life, and some much needed peace in her home... what's the solution? The Gospel of Jesus Christ! I'm so glad to have the knowledge of a loving Savior, who can access the peace we need in our lives. We need to reach out, and commit. Take His hand and don't let go!

Sunday: May 2nd
Hard working day, got to meet some more members in the ward who are returning from COVID-19! I can't believe there are so many who haven't been to church in over a year... good thing we have technology, and we have God to worship in our homes! There is a great beauty in a personal, homebound worship of the Lord. I've done it before, and commend all who are still striving to do so.
You would think thorns would hurt less...

Funny quotes:
"My kid's name is... sheep." Elder LaRose
"In the COVID-19 version of missionary work we don't do anything different. We still contact and reach out to people.... but, we eat snacks." Elder LaRose

Have fun with those ones :) Enjoy the week!

Love,
Elder LaRose
