WEEK #101 - Rain, Rain, and... Colfax! :)

 Hard workin week :)

The Fax

Monday: June 21st
Today was a crazy day! First it started on the Fax (Colfax street) with this random lady cussing the road out. She was pushing a shopping cart and standing in the middle of the road yelling like crazy... dang gina! She was going crazy and we had to Gotta love the Fax :) It's not as dangerous for us because we do knocking doors, but it is the most dangerous part of Colorado... what a great way to finish strong!
Colfax view of Denver!

Tuesday: June 22nd
We had a great district council and a powerful lesson with Sue! We noticed a distinct different in how we taught when we had the Spirit with us. We read this verse with Sue, "there is one thing which is of more importance than they all– for behold, the time is not far distant that the Redeemer liveth and cometh among His people." I know my Redeemer lives! <3
Going around the hood

Wednesday: June 23rd
Had a fun little virtual church tour with our friend Sharon over zoom! We got creative holding the phone different ways with all 3 of us taking turns being the "tour guides" haha. It was great and Sharon loved it. Who would've known how helpful it would be to use zoom to give a tour of the church for someone, now they are able to feel a lot more comfortable when they come on Sunday!

Thursday: June 24th
Today marked my 23 month mark. Oof. I can't believe it and it's NOT happening!!! Lot of Facebook work today and hard work. Another great day to be a missionary!

Haircuts today!

Friday: June 25th
FUNNY STORY:
Today was AWEsome, haha! We totally got destroyed by the rain today. We didn't coordinate things and had to drop off our car to be fixed in Wheat Ridge for an hour only to realize that we had no place or car to go to, a zoom call lesson in 10 minutes, and a thunderstorm rolling in..... so what did we do? We ran to the nearest park, sat in a dugout, then got drenched by the rain as there was no covering expect a tiny ledge from a shed haha! Sadly the lesson fell through but we definitely got the goof end of the deal with being stuck in the rain.

Dugout lesson before getting rained on

Saturday: June 26th
Lots of efforts today to find people to teach about the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I'll share a dream I had last night– essentially the gist of it was hearing the words spoken to me, "You're not finished with your work." Wow. That was a wake up call for sure! Everything needs to be devoted and focused on our Savior. Having that dream surely was a motivation to understand how much of an impact we all can make in short times. Regardless of anything I have ever done these last 23 months it doesn't matter, I need to always have the mindset that there is always more to do, always others to help, and always more breaths to take before my work is finished. I pray the Lord will bless you and guide you in your own personal efforts to minister to others and bring the light of Christ into their life!
Mega lucky charms??? I know who wants these.... :)

Sunday: June 27th
Today was great, we 3 all gave talks in church! Elder Neal was on commitment, Elder Proctor was on prayer, and mine was on conversion unto the Lord. Powerful Spirit, it was fun preparing the talk with just 5 bullet points on a notecard :) Sue came to church which was great! We again got drenched in the rain today, it's been so strange seeing how much rain Denver has been getting lately. It rarely rains in Colorado.

Enjoy the week and let us all press on!
Hand in hand with the Lord :)

WEEK #100 - Lakewood/Foothills/Colfax... wait, Colfax??

I am currently serving in the most dangerous part of our mission.... nice! This is where my last transfer will be– on Colfax street, the most dangerous street in all of Denver :) Foothills is going to be amazing.

Monday: June 14th
A great day! I said goodbye to a couple members and even the same lady who's been giving me a haircut for the past 9 months, haha! She said she was sad I was leaving and even wanted to come to my wedding reception. What a savage! :) On the mission you meet so many wonderful people, there'll be a lot to keep in touch with.
When your suitcase handle breaks...

Tuesday: June 15th
Lots of transfer prep today in addition to some lessons. Working hard to finish strong in Orchard!
See ya, Elder Gerber!

Wednesday: June 16th
Airport day! Us three, Elder Barnes, Elder Gerber, and I, made our way to the airport to pick up the new missionaries! Little did one know that I would be his companion/trainer shortly! Haha. We had 18 new missionaries all come in at different times within a 3 hour time span all on different flights... fun! We got them all and headed to introduce them to their trainers. Elder Neal was so surprised when he found out that I was going to be his trainer! I gave him a big hug and we stayed the night with the Assistants :)

The Lakewood trio
Thursday: June 17th
Transfer day!! Dang gina. I made sure things were all settled for the new missionaries at 4am, then we drove the van to the transfer bus. Once everything was settled in me and Elder Neal picked up our 3rd companion Elder Proctor and drove to our apartment. We totally got lost on Colfax haha! After a couple calls we finally found our new apartment and got things running. Sometimes it feels good having absolutely no clue where to go, a new adventure for sure.
Elder Neal, my new missionary!

Funny Tip:
Over here in Lakewood the gang slang terms for Colfax street and Kipling street are "the Fax" and "Kip". Haha! I love the culture here, we love everytime we take the Fax now... ;)

Friday: June 18th
Whitewashing the area was good, we have no clue who anyone is, but we were able to teach someone named Sue! She is working hard to overcome some challenges but is excited to continue applying the Gospel of Jesus Christ into her life.
The Englewood trio

Saturday: June 19th
Lots of contacting people today, but we worked hard! I freakin love Elder Proctor and Elder Neal they are so funny. It's going to be a great time with them! We've implemented into the Zone a new theme that we sought revelation for. The theme will be Christlike Ownership! I'm very very excited to implement this into the Zone, we all need to focus more on Christ and taking ownership when helping others in our area come closer to our Savior <3

Sunday: June 20th
Happy Father's day!!! And, Happy 20th today!!! Thank you so much Dad for everything you've done to shape who I've become. I couldn't be anywhere near who I am today without my Rambo! :) Stake Conference was today again in the Front Range Stake and it was a super uplifting time to focus on our Savior Jesus Christ

Love you all! I'll try to be safe as a can over here on the Fax ;)

WEEK #99 - The Last Week of Orchard

Another crazy week! I'm really going to miss Orchard, but these next 6 weeks are going to be one to remember!

Elder LaRose just smiling

Monday: June 7th
We got to teach Jennifer and Makayla today from the Book of Mormon! It was so powerful being able to see them connect the scriptures to their own life and finding more peace in our Savior Jesus Christ. I also talked with my wonderful family today!

The literal definition and picture-ized embodiment of Elder LaRose and salt

Tuesday: June 8th
Today was a headache. Me, Elder Barnes, and President/Sister Rees spent several hours together going over transfers. Over and over we hit a wall of where certain missionaries needed to go, but I know the Lord confirmed what needed to happen through our feelings. I know the Lord is mindful of every single one of us– including you reading this email! :)

Wednesday: June 9th
Elder Gerber today joined our companionship! He'll be the next Assistant to take my place, it has been such an honor to have been serving here since October. Already us three worked hard today and I'm excited for the little time we will have with us three.
Trio!

Thursday: June 10th
Today was a lot of unplanned service helping people put in the neighborhood scrubbing graffiti off fences with sandpaper. When you are in the service of your fellow beings you are only in the service of your God! I love being a missionary and serving others– a capacity which thankfully isn't reserved for just missionaries alone. Service brings Joy!
Service, raising up the Elders

Friday: June 11th
Little miracles throughout today, us three worked hard! It has been so fun with Elder Gerber and Elder Barnes.

Saturday: June 12th
Lots of things happened today, we got to interact with and teach a couple of our friends. I enjoy helping others focus and refocus their lives on our Savior Jesus Christ!
This is what happens when you go shopping in Target and don't have enough space in your truck to lock your bike inside so you totally improvise a savage way to hide my bike... such goofs :)

Sunday: June 13th
Stake Conference today was wild! It was pretty hot, but a lot of people showed up, even our friend Ryan. Sorry this email is so short, we had a transfer meeting for this upcoming week and lots to get done! I didn't realize I had so much stuff in my apartment haha...
Elder Gerber and Elder Barnes

Speaking of that, I'll be transferred to finish out my last 6 weeks as a missionary! My mom will attach the new address, but I'll be in a trio training a new leader and a new missionary. This is going to be a very exciting, fast paced transfer!

WEEK #98 - The Louisiana in Colorado

 Great busy week!

Monday: May 31st
There was a noticable peace that I felt today as I took 10 minutes to study my scriptures. Focus on the Savior, focus on His words and His example. As you do so you'll notice a feeling in your heart that will last as you place yourself in an environment that brings you to close proximity with the Lord <3

Avon, Colorado
Tuesday: June 1st
Exchanges today with Elder Tesch was awesome! We are both at 23 and 22 months out in the mission so we worked hard and had a good time. Mainly today was filled with service! Serving others is a key aspect of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We can show Christlike charity as we serve others with the sincere desire to uplift, ease, and bless them! Service softens hearts and opens the way for God to prevail in all lives involved <3 I would highly encourage each of you to find some way to serve someone this week!
Service with Elder Tesch!

Wednesday: June 2nd
MLC in Avon was great, lots of discussion on different aspects we are facing as a mission. The mission leadership definitely desire to move this work forward and I know I'm itching to help them out. We taught Brandy again over video chat with some members, she is so elect you can feel it! The Lord truly does guide you by the Spirit to find those who are ready to receive the blessings of the restored Gospel.

Us and President/Sister Rees!
Thursday: June 3rd
Worked hard today!

Friday: June 4th
Littleton exchanges today was fun, I had a trio with me and we worked hard even when we got locked out of our apartment because I left the keys IN THE ROOM! We got it all sorted out haha, I guess I'm not great at following the counsel in Jacob 6:12...

Service with Elder Barnes! (Pluss my glasses ;)

Saturday: June 5th
CRAZY STORY:
Today I was at our gym in our apartment complex and we met this guy named Foster. After talking with him while working out I straight up asked if he was from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and he said yes! (I know a great friend serving in the LBRM!) What?! Haha, he said he couldn't pronounce any of the French street names down there before he moved here haha. He then proceeded to get to know us but expressed disinterest in our message as missionaries, but he still liked us so he asked if we wanted to smoke a joint with him and grab a beer at his bar........ oh gosh, haha! Apparently Louisiana is not much different than Colorado! ;) I learned that even though we all have different lifestyles and standards, I still felt a genuine love and charity for this man. Our Savior Jesus Christ is the example of loving others no matter where they are from, who they are, or what they do... as we strive to follow His example, you will begin to see others through His eyes!
You know me and pink flowers :)

Sunday: June 6th
A little stress, but we got Brandy a ride to church! She really enjoyed the fast and testimony meeting, so I'm glad others get to experience the feelings of peace and comfort as we gather to worship the Lord
Another Avon picture

I love you all!! Feel free to ask me any questions you have, the Lord is on our side.

Love,
Elder LaRose
