WEEK #22 - Trio Trouble Part 2, TRANSFER NEWS!

Dannnnng Gina!! What a week...

Monday: December 16th
Today was great, very chill getting to email friends and family I love back home!
CRAZY STORY: We were parked on main street in Nucla planning Roberta's lesson in our car only to look up and see SEVEN police cars and two fire trucks zoom right past us and encircle something in the middle of the road! We heard something about apparently a waste truck exploded on fire on main street OR it was just a basement that got caught on fire and started burning. We don't know, haha! #OnlyInRita
We had another great lesson with Roberta talking about the seed of faith in Alma 32 and taking that last step of faith for her by coming to church again. We are settin up a baptismal invitation so pray she accepts and sees how much more the Gospel offers and can bless her by following Christ into the waters of baptism! :)

Yep, That's Rita for ya

Tuesday: December 17th
Driving up to District Council got down to -2 degrees!! I gave the training again for the combined District of eleven missionaries. I trained and testified of repentance, accountability, and diligence. The Spirit was definitely strong... :) We were at a members house for dinner and we got a call from President Rees for TRANSFER NEWS! I don't think anyone could have predicted this one ;)
So the whole time I had a feeling I was getting transferred, even some of my friends totally thought I was getting transferred ;) So President Rees talked to me and told me..... that I was STAYING in Naturita as District Leader!! ALSO we are getting a THIRD Elder, making the Naturita area now have a trio! Wow. So it'll be me, Elder Garstin still, and the new Elder Hibbits all in Naturita... Dannng Gina! I am also getting two more people in my District so that means more people, more stress, and more trainings for me! :) I did not expect this one at all.
Got a "letter" from The President, he told me I'm stayin. Yessssss

Wednesday: December 18th
Today Elder Garstin and I ran our hill in shorts and tshirts while it was 10⁰ outside!! We are crazy, haha! Stacked more wood for service and we cleaned the entire trailer home in preparation for Elder Hibbits. We don't even have a third mattress or chair! So I'll be sleeping on the floor once more :) We had another lesson with Roberta tonight because she didn't want to have me leave without a last lesson, aww she's so awesome! She was overjoyed to hear I was staying. We watched some Book of Mormon videos and talked about having the faith to commit.

Thursday: December 19th
Drove two hours up to get to GJ to pick up Elder Hibbits. We loaded everything in the Rita Rav and everyone else at transfers was laughing at our car seeing how dirty it was. We just have mud caked everywhere on the car from how savage our driveway is ;) We took the classic Rita picture with the new trio on the border of the Dolores river. Elder Hibbits is a great Elder, we are ready to work hard this next transfer!
Elder Hibbits and Elder Garstin!

Friday: December 20th
Happy 20th!!!
Today we three got to run the hill again in 10⁰ weather. Elder Hibbits seemed to take the hills well and is now initiated into Rita :) Today was crazy, we taught little Niki the Gospel of Jesus Christ using a really cool drawing my mom showed me.
Niki's cute drawing haha

BUT in the middle of the lesson Niki takes a cardboard box of dried potato mix, rips it open with her teeth, chucks the bag of potato mix at her sister Kira, and starts to EAT the cardboard box! What the heck?! The whole time us three missionaries were looking at each other in bewilderment, haha. We invited a lot of people to the special Christmas service this Sunday, we even got by Amee Bryant again! She was happy to see that I was staying another transfer. Elder Hibbits got pooped on by their tiny kitten and so our car smelled "wonderful" for the next few hours till we finished the night... ;) For his first full day in Rita he said it was pretty crazy, hopefully he has better experiences in the following days, afterall it IS Rita we're talking about, haha.

Saturday: December 21st
Another crazy day, we invited a ton more people to come to the special Christmas session of church. Lots of driving. We stopped by Amee Bryant and she had us make cookies! Now DON'T harass me.... BUT this was the first time I've ever really made cookies. I've never mixed, rolled, baked, and frosted cookies all at once. Granted, I WAS a wrestler you guys know! That means I would've died if I ate cookies in general, haha ;) But I look forward to future moments of messy kitchen evenings and cookie batter smeared all over my face, haha — in time, in time... ;)
CRAZY STORY:
So those cookies.... well.... I grabbed a pink food coloring bottle and nonchalantly made a snowman cookie with the drops as eyes and buttons. Well... what I forgot was that food coloring totally STAINS your teeth!! Unfortunately, our friend Ozzy grabbed my cookie and ate it before I could and... he now has very very pink teeth!! At least it wasn't as bad as Elder Garstin putting Habanero powder on his cookie!!

Cookies!

Sunday: December 22nd
Dang. Gina. We broke a new Naturita record! We got SIX people to come to church, but the ones that you guys would know is... Matt and Jamie!! What?! How in the world did we do that? Literally they got a ride to church and brought their baby Ziggy with them. The place smelled of smoke but nobody cared haha! I'm still left in bewilderment that my awesome weed smoking, crazy weird spiritual, dreadlocks and all friend came to church, haha! I flippin love Naturita :)

What happens to me after church... ;)

CRAZY STORY:
We tracted this neighborhood called "Snob Hill" and it's basically like 20 cabins on this little hill. So we go knocking on the first door and this lady invites us in. She said she's not interested but she told us that only THREE people lived up here on Snob Hill. Wanna know why?!?! Because everyone else got EVICTED! What... you kidding me, haha!! How, just how. And why. Haha! #OnlyInRita

Snob Hill

Great week, look forward to slayin more with this trio in Rita! And if all else fails, code word: Dang Gina! ;)

Love you all,
Elder LaRose
